What is Live in the Garden?
Live in the Garden was a Hampton Roads-based music platform founded by J. Braye that featured live performance videos from independent artists across Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Newport News, and surrounding areas.
The platform documented over 150 artists, generated over 1 million Facebook views, and received more than 700 artist submissions during its original run.
The platform combined live performances with targeted local distribution, helping independent artists gain visibility within the Hampton Roads music scene.
How the Top 10 Was Created
The countdown was built using actual historical performance data from the Live in the Garden archive. Artists were ranked based on the total views accumulated on their Live in the Garden performance videos.
The countdown was not based on personal opinions, industry relationships, popularity contests, or editorial bias. It is a data-driven ranking based on audience engagement and viewership. The audience ultimately determined the rankings through their viewing behavior.
